R.H.S. Award Winner Amongst the most of magnificent trees, hardy in the temperate regions. Propagation from seed is a slow process – however, with even a small, well-grown Magnolia species costing at least £20.00, there is a strong economic case for starting from seed. And the sooner you start . . . (and don’t forget, they will merit their place in your garden as superb foliage plants long before they flower).
Description:
This is a distinct and most attractive, deciduous shrub originating in Japan. Having a rounded, compact habit and seldom exceeding a height of 10 ft., this is an ideal shrub for the smaller garden. The young bark is very aromatic and in March and April it bears in profusion fragrant, pure white at first, changing to pink, many-petalled flowers. One big advantage of this Magnolia is that it can flower in as little as three years from seed on plants no more than a foot high. Hardy throughout the British Isles. Seed very limited. Packet of 5 seeds.
