A rather superb bulbous plant from South America with somewhat glaucous leaves and bearing in early autumn large, exotic, rich purplish-rose, Amaryllis-like flowers 3½ ins. long. Although almost hardy, it is perhaps best pot-grown in a greenhouse so that when in flower it can be brought into the house for admiration and suitable words of praise from the family. Requires heated glass (minimum 41°F (5°C)). 9 ins. (Please note that we supply seeds and not bulbs of this bulbous plant.)
