| R.H.S. Award Winner All the Dahlias we offer can very easily be grown as half-hardy annuals and flower the first year from seed. | |
| Originally introduced in 1927, this is a very fine, ever-popular Dahlia variety. With dark purple, sometimes verging on black, foliage, it bears a generous amount of large, peony-flowered, semi-double, fiery intense bright red blooms, each two or three inches across, nicely trimmed with bright yellow stamens. That is, however, the flower colour of the parent ‘Bishop of Llandaff’ plant – the colour of its offspring will be variable and several different ones will appear in the seedlings including one particularly attractive, warm amber; all will have the desirable dark foliage of the parent. May be hardy outside in some regions with frost-free protection in winter. 2-3˝ ft. | |
