Search Criteria:Carica candamarensis Caricaceae Mountain Papaw, Paw Paw, Papaya
Genus:Carica More from the Carica genus
Species:candamarensis
Family Name: Caricaceae More seeds with the Family name Caricaceae
Synonym:Carica pubescens
Seed Catalogue No.:274D
English Name:Mountain Papaw, Paw Paw, Papaya seeds
Introduction:In addition to their use as good decorative plants for greenhouse and conservatory, Caricas can make splendid subjects for summer bedding when the deeply cut leaves form a striking contrast to your every-other-garden-has-them type plants. Give them generous treatment in a sunny, perfectly drained position and await praise for the resultant beautiful specimens as showy and tropical in appearance as any Palms.
Description:From highlands in Ecuador and other parts of South America comes this very ornamental species, a smaller version of the Common Papaw but with a shorter, stouter trunk and by virtue of its origin, a more hardy plant. The small, fragrant fruits can be stewed, used in sauces, jams and the like. The Papaws are very rapid growers – indeed in tropical regions they are sometimes grown as annuals! Packet of 18 seeds.
Classification: Half Hardy, Shrub
Price: £2.40 (0 per packet)
