Search Criteria:Magnolia stellata var. rosea Magnoliaceae Magnolia
Genus:Magnolia More from the Magnolia genus
Species:stellata var. rosea
Family Name: Magnoliaceae More seeds with the Family name Magnoliaceae
Seed Catalogue No.:838E
English Name:Magnolia seeds
Introduction:Amongst the most of magnificent trees, hardy in the temperate regions. Propagation from seed is a slow process – however, with even a small, well-grown Magnolia species costing at least £13.50, there is a strong economic case for starting from seed. And the sooner you start . . . (and don’t forget, they will merit their place in your garden as superb foliage plants long before they flower).
Description:This is a most desirable Magnolia for small gardens, small yards even. Originating in Japan, it is a distinct and charming, bushy, compact, deciduous, much branched shrub with very aromatic young bark and narrow, mid-green leaves. In spring it bears in profusion very beautiful, fragrant blooms with a sweet-spicy perfume, each three or four inches across with numerous narrow petals. In this variety these are a delightful rosy-pink when they unfold before gradually ageing to an almost pure white. One big advantage of this Magnolia is that it can flower in as little as three years from seed on plants no more than a foot high. Packet of 6 seeds.
Classification: Hardy, Shrub
