A small, easily grown, deciduous tree from Arkansas and Texas with dark, glossy green leaves that have been used to feed silkworms. The small, greenish flowers are followed, provided male and female plants are grown together, by large and remarkable Orange-like fruits up to 5 ins. in diameter but which unfortunately you can't eat. With its thorny branches, the Osage Orange can be used to make an unusual impenetrable hedge.
