Although not completely resistant to the carrot fly, this fine variety has been bred to offer the utmost discouragement to the little beasties: the adult flies aren't thrilled by the plant's aroma and the roots offer the grubs a less than appetising meal about the same as putting humans on a diet of bread and water. These said humans will, however, delight on these same roots; sweet and tender, they are broad-shouldered, stump ended with a smooth skin and lovely colour. Mid-season. Go on, be cruel to a carrot fly this year!
