A most attractive and easily grown native wild flower with toothed pinnate leaves, somewhat grey-downy beneath, and bearing in summer spikes of numerous yellow flowers, each ¼ in. or so across. These are honey-flavoured and were once added to mead. Apart from this, the whole plant is scented including the rootstock which can be dried and used in pot-pourri retaining its fragrance well. And yet another bonus: the whole plant yields a yellow dye! 1-2 ft.
